As the student learns the format and content of the test, he or she can then prepare for the passing level or reading level section. The passing level and reading level questions are similar to the one from the actual exam.Once the student masters the format and content of the GRE, he or she can begin the essay portion of the test. The GRE exam has four sections: Analytical Writing, Critical Thinking, Quantitative Writing, and Verbal Reasoning.Analytical Writing requires the student to compose a meaningful essay on a particular topic. In this section, the student will need to research the topic to gain adequate information about the subject. The student should also be able to present their ideas in a clear and coherent manner. As the student advances through the test, the focus of his or her essay should increase as he or she focuses on expressing their ideas.Critical Thinking will include statements on why the student believes that he or she has written. In this section, the student should be able to make the case for his or her point of view. In this section, the student will need to follow the arguments in a logical and cohesive manner. In Quantitative Writing, the student will use mathematical and statistical skills to present an argument and support the facts he or she has p resented.
